Well Baby

Yesterday was Gunnar's 4 month well baby check up. He weighed in at 9 lbs 13 oz (that's a weight gain of only 5 ounces in 2 months!), 23 3/4 inches, and his head circumference was 16 1/4 inches. As far as percentiles go, he's not even on the chart for weight, 10th for height, and 24th for his head. The doctor isn't concerned about his weight gain because it could be due to after effects from him having Pertussis. Also, he's still growing and is meeting his milestones which is the most important thing. While listening to his heart, the doctor did hear a murmur that neither he nor the doctors at the hospital had heard before. According to him, he's 99% sure that it's an innocent one, meaning it's not harmful and there's nothing to worry about. However, there's still that 1% and so Gunnar will have to go see a cardiologist to get some tests done to check it out and see if it's innocent or not. *Please please pray that it's nothing!* If we find out that it is of concern, then that could very well be the reason he's not putting on weight very well, despite his healthy eating habits. He's perfectly healthy otherwise and very alert! The second round of Hib and DTaP vaccines went a lot better than the last time. He cried of course but in a matter of minutes he was out like a light (thanks to Tylenol and the fact that it was nap time). Throughout the whole day he was as calm as can be which I loved! No pain at the injection sites, no fussing, and no extra sleepiness. He was worn out though from such an exhausting day and he slept wonderfully at night! I couldn't have asked for a better baby last night especially since the heck we've been going through with him waking up a ton and not going back to sleep. I'm just hoping and praying that he will sleep as he did last night (woke up at 2, ate, went back to sleep then woke up at 6 to eat, then back to sleep) and that it'll only progress from there. Ultimately, I need to get him back to sleeping through the night (8-5) like he was before!

Rolly Polly

I had been waiting for this day for what seems like forever! The past couple weeks Gunnar has been able to turn himself onto his side but couldn't quite turn all the way over. That head of his just wanted to stay put! However, Monday morning a woke up to a great surprise! For those who don't know, Gunnar sleeps on his stomach, and when I went upstairs to get him out of bed, I see his beautiful little face staring right at me- smile and everything! He had rolled over! I was so excited that I scared him and made him cry- haha. It was a tad big disappointing to know that I didn't get to see it the first time but I was still proud as ever. That night I finally decided to do some tummy time (he was a cranky baby all day) to see if he would roll over again. Low and behold, he did.. TWICE! I can't get it on video yet since my husband is in Texas for two weeks and won't be back until the 19th but once he gets home you bet I'll post a video of it! I'm so proud of my little man!

And in other exciting news... Gunnar is 4 months old today! Can you believe it? 4 Months! My oh my how time flies. This year is almost half over and I don't know where the time went. He has his 4 month well baby on Monday so I'll post an update about how that appointment goes then. Until then.. enjoy a picture of cute 4 month baby feet.
